P0544 Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) Sensor Circuit (Bank 1, Sensor 1)

The P0544 trouble code indicates that the engine control module (ECM/PCM) has detected a fault in the Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) Sensor Bank 1, Sensor 1 circuit.

P0544 vs. P0546 vs. P0548

These three codes are closely related:

P0546 – EGT Sensor Circuit High, Bank 1 Sensor 1

The ECU detects an electrical signal higher than the expected range.

P0548 – EGT Sensor Circuit Low, Bank 2 Sensor 1

The ECU detects an electrical signal lower than the expected range on the specified Bank 2 sensor circuit.

The distinction is important because P0544 gives less information about the exact electrical failure.

It therefore requires a broader initial circuit diagnosis.
