LPG Tank Types and Prices
Cylindrical LPG Tanks
Cylindrical tanks are available in different diameters and lengths. Common diameters include 200 mm, 230 mm, 244 mm, 270 mm, 300 mm, and 315 mm, while 360 mm and 400 mm versions are used less frequently.
The price depends on the tank's diameter, length, capacity, and manufacturer.
Toroidal LPG Tanks
Toroidal tanks, commonly known as donut-shaped or spare-wheel-well tanks, are generally preferred when saving luggage space is important.
Common toroidal tank heights include 180 mm, 200 mm, 220 mm, and 240 mm. Among the most commonly used sizes are 630 × 200 mm and 600 × 220 mm tanks, with capacities around 45–47 liters.
LPG Tank Replacement: What Should You Check?
When replacing an LPG tank, choosing a tank with the correct dimensions is important. A tank that does not match the original installation can create mounting, clearance, multivalve, and fuel-level measurement problems.
Cylindrical Tank
When replacing a cylindrical LPG tank, the replacement tank should have the same diameter as the existing tank whenever the original mounting arrangement is being retained. Changing the diameter can affect the tank's position and may also create compatibility problems with the multivalve and level-sensor arrangement.
Toroidal Tank
For a toroidal LPG tank, the replacement tank should normally have the same height as the original tank when the existing installation and multivalve configuration are being retained.
For example, if the vehicle is equipped with a 630 × 200 mm tank, the replacement should also have the appropriate 200 mm height. Simply choosing a tank with the same diameter but a different height may not be suitable.
Selecting the correct dimensions helps maintain proper tank installation, multivalve compatibility, and accurate LPG level indication. If the dimensions or multivalve configuration are changed, a different multivalve or level-sensor setup may be required.

LPG Tank Selection: Why Dimensions Matter
Choosing an LPG tank based only on its capacity is not enough. The physical dimensions must also match the vehicle and the existing installation.
For cylindrical tanks, the diameter is particularly important because the tank must fit correctly in its mounting location. For toroidal tanks, both diameter and height are important because the tank must fit into the spare-wheel well or its designated installation area without creating clearance or mounting problems.
The multivalve must also be compatible with the tank. Changing the tank dimensions without checking the multivalve can lead to incorrect fuel-level readings or installation problems.
A larger-capacity tank is therefore not automatically a better choice. The correct tank is the one that provides the desired capacity while remaining compatible with the vehicle, mounting system, multivalve, filler arrangement, and available space.
