A common mistake with P0553 is immediately replacing the PSP sensor.

For example, if the signal wire is shorted to a power circuit, a new sensor will produce exactly the same fault.
Likewise, if the sensor ground is poor or the reference supply is incorrect, replacing the sensor may not change anything.

There is no single universal PSP sensor voltage or resistance value that applies to every vehicle.
P0553 and Hydraulic Power Steering
P0553 is especially relevant to vehicles equipped with hydraulic power steering.
