P0222 Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch "B" Circuit Low Input
P0222 is an OBD-II diagnostic trouble code that indicates the engine control module (ECM/PCM) has detected an electrically low signal from the Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch “B” circuit.

The electrical input is below the expected range.
P0223 – Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch “B” Circuit High Input
The electrical input is above the expected range.
P0224 – Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch “B” Circuit Intermittent
The circuit or signal behaves inconsistently and may drop out intermittently.
These distinctions are useful because they describe what the ECM is seeing electrically, rather than directly identifying the failed component.
Can You Drive With P0222?
If the vehicle has no noticeable symptoms and the code is only stored or pending, it may still be possible to drive it to a repair facility.

“Your accelerator pedal is bad.”

That distinction changes the entire diagnostic process.
The technician needs to determine where the signal is being pulled low.
Is the sensor generating the wrong signal? Is the signal wire shorted to ground? Is the reference voltage missing? Is the ground defective? Is a connector creating resistance? Is another sensor affecting a shared circuit?
Once those questions are answered, the correct repair becomes much clearer.
For P0222, measuring and observing the actual signal is far more valuable than replacing parts based on the code description alone.
