Can P0511 Be Caused by a Bad Battery?
Low system voltage can interfere with electronic throttle and idle-control operation.
If P0511 appears together with multiple low-voltage or communication codes, the vehicle battery, charging system, grounds, and power supplies should be checked.
However, a weak battery should not automatically be blamed for P0511.
If the vehicle has normal system voltage and a clearly failed IAC circuit, replacing the battery would not solve the problem.
Can You Drive With P0511?
It depends on the symptoms.
