What Happens If the Timing Belt Breaks?

Can a Timing Belt Break Before Its Recommended Replacement Interval?

Are Timing Belts and Timing Chains the Same?

Both systems synchronize the crankshaft and camshaft, but their construction is different.

A timing belt is made from reinforced rubber-based materials and has a defined replacement interval.

A timing chain uses metal links and is generally designed for a longer service life. However, a timing chain is not completely maintenance-free.

Chain stretch, worn guides, tensioner problems, and inadequate lubrication can all cause timing problems.

During a timing belt replacement, the entire system should be considered rather than treating the belt as an isolated component.
