LPG Injector Problems: Symptoms, Causes, and Solutions

LPG injectors are among the most important components in a sequential LPG fuel system. They are responsible for delivering the correct amount of LPG vapor into the engine according to the commands calculated by the LPG ECU.

What Happens After LPG Injector Replacement?

After replacing an LPG injector, the system should be checked carefully.

Depending on the LPG system, it may be necessary to:

  • Verify injector configuration

  • Check injector opening times

  • Review fuel trims

  • Perform calibration if required

  • Road-test the vehicle under different loads

Simply installing a new injector does not guarantee that the system is correctly calibrated.

Can You Drive With a Faulty LPG Injector?

It depends on the severity of the problem.

A minor injector imbalance may allow the vehicle to continue operating, but prolonged operation with an incorrect air-fuel mixture is not desirable.

A severe injector fault can cause misfires and poor combustion.

Persistent misfire can potentially damage the catalytic converter because unburned fuel may enter the exhaust system.

But these symptoms do not automatically prove that the injector itself has failed.
