2020 Toyota Corolla Sedan Was Officially Introduced

When the word “car” is mentioned, Toyota Corolla is a name recognized almost everywhere in the world. Since the first generation was introduced in 1966, more than 46 million Corolla vehicles have been produced, making it one of the best-selling cars in automotive history.

One interesting aspect of the new model is that, while new generations of cars often become larger than their predecessors, the new Corolla Sedan was slightly smaller in some dimensions than the previous generation.

Toyota also introduced new approaches to assembly methods and material usage. Reducing the vehicle's weight helped improve fuel efficiency, while the chassis and body structure were developed to provide better safety and driving dynamics.

Modern Design Combined With New Technology

The 2020 Corolla Sedan attracted attention not only with its exterior design but also with the technology offered inside the vehicle.

Wheel and equipment options varied depending on the trim level. The LE version was equipped with 16-inch steel wheels, while the XLE version received 16-inch alloy wheels. The SE and XSE versions featured larger 18-inch wheels as standard equipment.

The interior of the new Corolla Sedan was also redesigned with a modern and attractive appearance.

Black and white piano-style design elements created a high-contrast look inside the cabin. The dashboard had a smooth and minimalist appearance, while the controls were arranged around a simpler interface.

The cabin was designed to provide a comfortable environment for both everyday driving and longer weekend trips.

Depending on the version, the car could be equipped with a 7-inch instrument display and an 8-inch Entune 3.0 infotainment system. An 800-watt JBL audio system and Qi wireless charging were also available, adding to the vehicle's comfort and convenience.

Rear-Seat Comfort

The redesigned interior also focused on providing a comfortable experience for rear passengers.

The layout of the cabin provided a practical balance between passenger space and everyday usability, which has traditionally been one of the important characteristics of the Corolla.

Two Different Engine Options

The new Corolla Sedan was offered with two different powertrain options depending on the market.

One of them was a 1.8-liter hybrid engine producing 122 horsepower. The hybrid system could provide electric-only, zero-emission driving for a significant portion of everyday driving under suitable conditions.

The other option was a 1.6-liter gasoline engine producing 132 horsepower. This engine was designed to combine fuel efficiency with the performance required for everyday driving.

Transmission options included a six-speed manual gearbox and an optional CVT automatic transmission.

Toyota Safety Sense Comes as Standard

One of the most important features of the new Corolla was its focus on active safety.

Toyota Safety Sense technology was offered as standard equipment across the range. Depending on the market and trim level, the system included technologies designed to assist the driver in detecting potential hazards and maintaining safer driving conditions.

Pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, and traffic sign recognition were among the technologies associated with the new Corolla's safety package.

These systems were not intended to replace the driver. Instead, they were designed to provide additional assistance and reduce the risk of certain types of accidents.
